Bluff Stabilization Safety Enhancement Project

The oceanside bluff at the Gleneden Resort immediately north of the Gleneden Beach State Recreation Site (Gleneden Beach State Park) has destabilized due to accelerating ocean erosion. This increased hazards to persons above and below the bluff. To enhance safety around the bluff and following consultation with abutting owners and public agencies, the Gleneden Resort owner applied to and obtained approval from Lincoln County and Oregon Parks and Recreation Department to stabilize the bluff with an oceanfront revetment.

The revetment was designed by engineers to help stabilize the bluff and mitigate potential impacts to abutting properties and the beach going public. As part of its review and approval, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department required construction management plans that reduce and mitigate impacts to users of the beach and Gleneden Beach State Park. For example, construction will pause on high-use weekend and holiday dates. Impacts to park and beach users will inevitably occur from the project, but efforts have been made to minimize those impacts.

Construction is estimated to begin on April 19, 2023 and conclude around September 30, 2023. Questions and comments can be directed to glenedenrevetment@wyn.com and 503-649-8111.
